About Us
Twenty Years Of Garden Design
All Gardens Great And Small.
Experience has taught us that every garden, no matter how small, has the potential to be a beautiful, useable and peaceful space.
On larger scale projects, Kate’s love of plants can be let loose. We can create a traditional formal garden or bring some contemporary flare to your countryside home. Whatever your style we always prioritise the needs of our clients and consider the setting and environment, resulting in a brand new garden that feels as though it should have always been there. Call or send us an email to discuss your project with a member of our team.
Design
DESIGN DIRECTOR
Kate’s passion for the garden started very young. She trained in Art, Graphic Design and Illustration at Reigate Art School and at Northbrook College before turning her studies to Design and Planting at the prestigious Merrist Wood College — a foundation that shapes every garden she creates.
Her 20 year career has taken her to the heart of London’s most celebrated landscaping scene, working in Chelsea for one of the capital’s most prestigious garden design companies. It was there that she earned her place at the Chelsea Flower Show, one of the most coveted stages in the world of garden design — an experience that sharpened her ambition and elevated her craft.
Today, Kate brings that same blend of artistic vision and plantsmanship to her role as Design Director. Her work is characterised by considered planting schemes, sculptural structure and spaces that feel both flowing and natural.

Design Process
1. Initial Consultation
A chance for us to meet you to discuss your requirements, look around the garden and assess what the project might entail.
4. Design Concept
Information gathered from both the site survey and client brief will allow me to present you with a design concept. We can then discuss the plan and make any necessary adjustments
2. Client Brief & Quotation
Following our first meeting I will provide my written understanding of the client brief along with a quotation for design works
5. Master Plan
A fully rendered and scaled design will be produced along with supporting construction drawings, site sections and a specification of works.
3. Site Survey
On acceptance of the quotation I will carry out a full site survey. This includes a topographical survey, soil analysis, study of existing services, any site restrictions and then a contract is signed by both parties.
6. Planting Plans
A detailed planting plan to support the Master Plan is provided showing plant varieties, spacing and maintenance requirements
Build
Contractors
When the construction of your garden begins, you will be in the experienced hands of the Surrey Hills Garden Design landscaping team. Our skilled landscapers work closely with our design team to ensure that every garden is built with care, precision, and attention to detail.
At Surrey Hills Garden Design, we believe the best results come from a strong connection between design and build. By working closely together throughout the process, our team fully understands the vision behind each project and brings it to life to the highest standards.
Once your design plans have been finalised, transforming your garden from paper into a beautifully crafted outdoor space becomes a smooth and straightforward process.
